EBA 2024 VOTE NO!
All Australia Post workers need to VOTE NO on the 4% increase because 4% falls woefully short of keeping up with inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.
Postal workers are expected to do more work in less time, understaffing across DCs and Facilities is rife, Posties are out delivering for longer periods of time in ALL WEATHER and have dangerous jobs with dog attacks on the rise (1400 in the past 6 months) and other workplace injuries related to manual handling, delivery, parcel sorting and repetitive workloads.
Postal workers are barely keeping up with the cost-of-living crisis, becoming a rising statistic of the “working poor”. Rents keep rising, mortgages are going up with every RBA increase, food and utilities costs are astronomical.
Whilst Executive Salaries and bonuses are at eye watering obscene amounts, the workers at the bottom of the pay scale continue to be taken advantage of.
All Postal workers have put in relentless gruelling hours since the Covid pandemic and the parcel deliveries continue to increase, making a lot of revenue for Australia Post.
The extensive log of claims put in by up to twenty-six independent bargaining agents have largely been ignored and denied by Post, and very little has been agreed upon.
SOME OF THE LOG OF CLAIMS DENIED:
- Fork lift allowance
- Increase to Superannuation of 15.5%
- Pay parity/Overtime allowances for Part time workers
- Superannuation payments for employees on Worker’s Compensation payments
- Reasonable approval of leave/long service leave
- Cashing out of Sick Leave
- Reinstatement of the Authorised Day of Leave/’Postie Picnic’ between Christmas and New Year’s Day
- Removal of mediation process for dispute resolution
- Australia Post to adhere to the Fair work Act in relation to Bullying, Discrimination and Harassment policies
- Dispute resolution development leave for AURs
- Adequate PPE for PDO’s
- Adequate relief ratios
- Board of reference review for Bullying and Harassments complaints
- Worker’s compensation review
- Review of Clause 33 – involving workplace changes
- MOU to be submitted to Fair Work Commission for filing alongside any new agreement
- New Uniforms should be manufactured in Australia, and the new protective clothing should be consulted with and in agreement from affected employees
- Reinstate Joint Consultative Councils for interested employees, AURs/HSRs
- Paid Education Leave
- Reasonable Overtime: Australia Post to comply with Section 62 of the FW Act in relation to reasonable overtime
- Audit of all Australia Post polices & procedures: ensuring compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 & other legislation.
These are just some of the things put forward in the Log of Claims and allegedly negotiated on.
The purpose of an EBA is what it stands for – an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and the purpose of a Union is to bargain and negotiate better workplace conditions and pay for its workers/members.
THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED.
We need to unanimously send a strong message and VOTE NO for the EBA 2024.
- We can do better
- We deserve better
- We are not going to be complacent in the stripping away of our rights and entitlements.
You’ve got nothing to lose in fighting back for a
decent outcome!
